Designs and colors had to be attractive to children and arouse their interest, while not distracting them from learning the alphabet. We have decided to focus on clean, intense colours and pattern simplicity, which gave the effect of elegance and intensity. The brand identity had to be clear-cut and the graphic designs had to be prepared so that they could indicate the recipient immediately. This way, advertising Smart Cards would be the most effective. This project was an interesting and new challenge for us. Only cards creation, as a product, with their branding and Key Visual, was interesting as they were intended for children. As an educational help for learning the alphabet, they could not distract their attention with extensive graphics, though. The next challenges were safety and durability. The last one was the actual recipient. These cards were supposed to be used in educational institutions, such as: schools and nurseries, but also for tutoring. We decided to meet the expectations of the owner and originator of Smart Cards. In response to the problem of attracting children’s attention, and not distracting them at the same time, we took a chance on pure, intense card colours. The colours draw children’s eyes and gave the cards attractive looks. The second solution was about introducing very simple, even iconic one-colour graphics.
In terms of safety and durability, we focused on rounded edges and we secured the cards with very pleasant soft-touch foil, which strengthened them. As for the various needs of our recipients, we decided to make two card sizes along with packaging for schools and nurseries, and also for individual tutoring. The former ones are bigger for teacher-student work comfort in more spacious classrooms. Cards in packages are divided and grouped into sections for the client’s comfort also. The latter do not require a lot of storage space at home. The design of beautiful graphics for the Smart Cards mini box was an undoubted tribute to an individual client. Both sets come with original games and a CD with songs. We also created a dozen or so sticker designs upon request (they are a form of prize for children). Taking the whole project into consideration, we want to emphasize that our branding studio focused on clean, intense colours and the simplicity of the pattern – achieving the effect of intensity – as well as the solutions that make a product more friendly and pleasant to use.
